Babies

Saw this movie today.
All by my self.
A Mother's Weekend treat.
Stunning.
I need to hold a baby. Watch out baby Moms. I may just rub your belly or snatch up your baby. You know I never got that before - I get it now. It's just so amazing.
For the trailer - go here.

Arizona

Annmarie and I went to Arizona over the weekend to visit with Papa and A-ma, whilst Jamie ran in The Relay.AM was an Angel on the plane and she was very excited to see Papa's house. She confirmed this with me at least 5,000 times on the plane ride over.
AM was so happy to see Papa and A-ma at the airport. It's too bad I didn't have my camera out. She gave them the biggest hug.

The following the day we went to the zoo. AM wasn't really into any of the animals, but liked the fishies.

This below is my old rocking chair, AM loved it.
She also loved this creepy sweet baby. The baby belonged to my Grandmother. It's probably like a 100 years old. Well, I'm not sure if it's that old, but it is old. I guess I should be proud that AM doesn’t discriminate with baby dolls – she loves them all. I on the other hand was never a big baby doll person.
We also went to this little train exhibit in my parents neighborhood. It was all decked out and really cute. AM got a kick out of it.
Oops. Maybe I shouldn't post this picture, but it makes me laugh. There is no fewer than 100 pictures of Jamie as a kid doing the same thing, it's how he use to play soccer.
It was a nice weekend trip and AM keeps talking about it.

We'll hopefully see you soon Papa and A-ma.

Use Library

It's a start.

Annmarie and I went to the newly renovated Potrero Hill Branch Library on Sunday and picked up our new library cards.

The Potrero branch has been closed for years now. Funding issues and such put the renovation on hold for a long time. But last week it opened. It's a small library, but everything is brand spanking new and clean. All new books, DVD's, books on CD, computers, etc. And within walking distance.Annmarie picked out three books to take home. I have feeling she is not going to like it when we have to return the Wheels on the Bus book.
Check out the view. I have not been a user of the Public Library system in quite some time. I love LOVE buying new books. I love bookstores; am captivated by book cover art and love the feel of new books. But in an effort to save some money, I'm going to try and use the library. It's also a great resource to get books on CD.

And I know this is not new to most people, but it's totally interactive. You can save books, renew items, etc.- all online. They'll even e-mail you when your request is filled. Awesome.

P.S. Did you notice AM's new haircut? Post about that forthcoming.

Learn to Use Camera

I have have had my DSLR camera for about a year and for the first six months I would just shoot in the auto mode. Then I switched to using the little running man looking setting. Both settings took great pictures in my opinion and such an improvement over my old point and shoot camera. But I wanted to learn how to take better pictures of Annmarie and food and I knew my DSLR camera could do more.

I started reading about photography on the internet, I bought a book and also tried reading my camera manual, but all that just confused me. I made it a resolution to learn how to use my camera this year, so I started searching the internet for classes and found an awesome bay area photographer that offered workshops.

So on Sunday I took an all day photography workshop with the incredibly talented Augie Chang. See his website and blog for his work (I so wish he was our wedding photogrpher). I learned a ton of stuff about my camera and photography and also had fun doing it.

I learned a lot about my camera, lenses, ISO, exposure, aperture, shutter speed, composition and a lot more. All the stuff I have read about, but never really understood.

For example, I learned why things like this happen.
While I learned a lot about my camera and how to use it, I also realize that it takes a lot more than knowing how to use your camera to get a 'good' shot. You also have to have an eye for it. It's truly an art. Also, having the right lenses and equipment makes a big difference. I still have the stock lens my camera came with and I am looking to upgrade it. I'm now in a better place to go back and read some of the advice I have read on the internet and different blogs and make a decision about which lens to buy. I'm glad I just didn't go out and buy one before the workshop. All this can get pretty expensive and I'll need to stay within a budget.

I'm glad I invested in the workshop and there is a part II and III to Augie's workshop that I'm interested in taking in the future. I first want to play around with what I learned, buy a new lens, and see how I improved. I still need a lot of practice. I don't expect to have professional looking photo's, but I hope to get the most out my camera and our memerios. Because that is what is most important to me. I realize getting the 'perfect' shot is not always going to happen.

Also, if you are interested-some of the blogs I have found useful can be found-here, here and here.

On another note spring has appeared to have sprung around here already. Everything is starting to bloom.

(I could improve this pic in photoshop, something else I may need to get.)

Angela Runs

I ran a mile today. Yeah for me!  It was pretty easy and over in about 11/12 minutes. Jamie, Annmarie and I headed out to Crissy field this morning to run my mile. It's a great place to run; it’s flat, great views, other people out there to motivate you and always nice and cool.

I’m not a huge fan of running; however, I have never really have given it a chance either. I would love to love running. I love the idea that you can leave from your home (or anywhere for that matter) and go, you don’t have to go to a gym, worry about a class schedule, etc. I need to find something to do to get some exercise in. I’m not sure if I’m completely sold on this running thing. And I can say with most certainty that I would never run a marathon or even a half. But I think I’ll try it again and go from there. Maybe there will be a 5K in my future.

Today

A few things I did today:

1. I backed up our computer! I got an external hard drive. And presto we have a back-up of our pictures, movies, music, documents, etc. Yeah!

2. I texted "Haiti" to 90999 to give $10 to the Red Cross. Loved how easy it was. I did it yesterday and I'll do it again tomorrow. I think you can do it three times.

And

3. I scanned in these pictures. Our Nanny took a bunch of pictures of Annmarie and we got them all for Christmas. We just love them.

2010 Resolutions

Here are my resolutions for 2010. My To Do's! I stopped at a page, I probably could have kept going. I left out all the home improvement stuff Jamie and I should do this year. And omitted some of the more personnel life choices Jamie and I will make this year. Like maybe leaving S.F. Sniff. Sniff.

Anyway, it was fun to take pen to paper and write them out. I'm thinking if I publish them on the blog, some of them may actually happen. For example, I just ordered a back-up hard drive for the computer. And a lot of them are fun things, so well, that's fun, those will be easy. I added the list to the side bar, so I will be reminded of them and I can cross them out as I go along. There's not much that gives me more joy than being able to cross something off a list. It's the Virgo in me.
