Bread

I'm lovin the bread machine. This may be become a weekly occurrence. Last week I did a 100% whole wheat bread all in the machine. On Saturday I did a wheat bread with flax meal and just ran it through the 'dough' setting. I took the dough out and let it rise, brushed it with olive oil and topped it with oats. The oats ended up all falling off and I may have left it in the oven 5 minutes too long, but it came out well. It's amazing how simple it is with a machine-It's like magic.

CO Weekend

Heading off for a long weekend of skiing with the hubs. Oh, and Bonnie and the Double and ten other people. It'll be very romantic-I'm sure. No, it should be good fun. I'm not sure if I can count this as a weekend away with hubs, It's more of a Jomance weekend for Jamie.

This will also be the longest we have been away from our sweet Annmarie-3 nights. She'll be in good hands with A-ma (Grandma) and Papa.

Super Bowl Sunday......and Saturday

We laid low at home this Super Bowl Sunday. Annmarie and I played with her doll house during the first part of the game.

Jamie and Annmarie danced to the Who at half-time. Jamie hearts the Who BTW.

Jamie barbecued some party wings. I made a tortilla soup in the crock pot. And I also made cheesecake bars. Yum!

-----------------------

And backing up a day.

On Saturday Jamie and I met up with Bonnie at a new vegan Mexican restaurant in the Mission - Gracias Madre. So good. Here is pic of the chiles rellenos that Jamie had for dinner. I forgot my camera, but Jamie got this one with his phone.
And then after dinner we headed over the Roxie movie theater to check out My Movie Girl. A small independent film Bonnie's Mom worked on as Associate Director. Cute flick. I'm glad we were able to go check it out.

Watching and Listening

Watching this.
We have been spending our evenings watching Ken Burn's PBC documentary on America's National Parks. There is amazing history behind these incredible parks. Love the narration, the vintage photo's and the incredible scenic shoots. And I'm sure Muir's home in Martinez, CA will be receiving some extra visitors after people watch this. We especially enjoyed the history behind Hetch-Hetchy, and how us folks in S.F. got our water.

--------
And we are listening to this.

09/09/09 marked the release of this brilliant collection of Beatles tunes! We have Beatles music coming out of ears, literally. It's awesome. We have been waiting years for this to come out to complete our collection. Jamie looked like a kid on Christmas when he was opening it and wants to carry it around everywhere. This is Beatles heaven.

And here is a little video of Annmarie dancing to Beatles tunes. Of course, every time I pulled out the video camera she would stop and want to grab the camera.

La Selva and Etsy

My incredibly talented and beautiful cousin, Nikki Silva was featured on the Etsy blog this week.

The post features La Selva, an amazing communal living home. For the full story go – here.

The story will warm your heart.

Also, for those of you not familiar with Etsy, Etsy is a place where you can find handmade goodness. I came across Etsy when I was pregnant with AM and found some wonderful treasures (art, hair clips, paper goods, etc.). Not a week goes by that I'm not tempted (or do) to buy something through their site.

California Academy of Sciences

On Saturday we finally made it to the newly renovated Academy of Sciences.
The primary reason we went this Saturday was because of the this! Score.
We got there right when it opened and missed some of the crowds. We stayed for about two hours and spent most of our time in the aquarium. It was beautiful and Annmarie liked all the fishes.
Jamie told me I had to write this on the picture. It is true.
We saw some of the other exhibits.
We went up to the living roof and let AM snack and run around.
Awesome place and I'm sure we will back. Hopefully on the next free day.

A Message From The Messenger

Look what you can do at - What a Lovely Name

A Greek origin angelos, meaning "messenger." A variant from the name Angel, meaning "divine messenger, a messenger of God."

Tags: American, brave, dependable, gentle

Here are some for Annmarie.

Then I uploaded to picnik. One of my favorite websites and did this:
Turned it into a cute gift label. I use picnik to edit my photo's, make collages and add words to pictures you see on our blog. So easy to use and so much cheaper than photoshop. In fact it's free and for about $25 you can upgrade for additional features.

I LOVE My iPhone!

I have had my iPhone for about a month now, and I am loving it even more. It does everything. I am still learning about all the cool apps. Today I figured out how to take screen shots (press and hold the main circle button at the bottom of the phone and then click the button at the top).

So I thought I would share what I have on my iPhone:

Some of my favorites apps include - google reader. I can follow/stalk blogs.
Facebook
Google voice search.
It's so easy to text. (Poor Jamie, running in the rain)
I even love how easy it is to get the weather.
And this is my first mobile phone with a camera. I always went with the free phone that came with the calling plan. And now I can get instant darling pictures like this of my girl.
Love it! Love the iPod, getting my email, Pandora Radio, GPS, the lists I can create. I just wonder what else I am missing? Would love to hear about other cool apps. What is on your iPhone?
