Fiji. Seems so long ago now. We left the day after Ben's Birthday. I want to go back. Maybe next time without children. I kid. Ha. Whom I kidding. Definitely.Without.Children. Ok ok, our holiday. First off, the flight went way better than I was expecting. Annmarie was occupied with the iPad and Ben held it together for the most part and even slept; on the flight there and back. We went to Denarau and stayed at the Sheraton Villas. The rooms where average, nothing overly glamorous, beautiful pools and views and where we stayed we had access to three different resorts so we could change it up a bit.
Here's the kicker - Annmarie got sick. Like had to call the hotel doctor sick. It was a bit of a mess. She totally got cheated out of a vacation, but these things happen. However, the crazy girl loves doctors and thought it was the bees knees that a doctor came to her hotel room. She is still talking about it and recalls the doctor by her name. I think she will always associate Fiji with this doctor. She ended up on antibiotics for a minor ear infection and conjunctivitis in her eyes. Thankfully, Nana was there and helped out a ton with Annmarie. Jamie and I were able to enjoy two very peaceful dinners together and a couple of other evenings we went out for drinks. We ended up not doing any exploring or activities. We only really wanted do one island excursion and do a little snorkeling, but called it off when AM got sick.
It was still a very nice holiday and it is what it is with children. The Fijians are incredibly pleasant people and they have a huge heart for children. On our first evening when Ben had finished his dinner and we where trying to finish our dinner one of our servers came and took Ben for a little walk around the outdoor restaurant and kept him entertained while we finished up. If only that happened all the time. We spent our days around the different pools, going for walks, and eating and drinking. Not so bad.
Here are our pictures.
This was the pool right outside our room.
Oh dear Ben. How do I say this. He is not the most pleasant eating companion. He finishes his food in minutes, seconds it seems. And it's a lot of food too. For breakfast he would eat a pancake, sausage, watermelon and muffin. And then he is done. Done done and wants nothing to do with his high chair. You cannot distract him with books or toys, nothing. He must get out.
We thought Annmarie was on the mend this day, her fever broke, she looked good. We let her go swimming for a bit and then things got ugly that night and we called the doctor in the morning.
Ben had the best curls due to the humidity.
He liked to rearrange the furniture. The kid is really strong.
Sunset
But still a kid.
He's a mess. Notice how he has bump on his forehead in like every picture. I don't think it ever goes away. There's no controlling him.
Jamie took this picture of me seven years ago when we went to Fiji on our honeymoon. We went to Tokoriki Island. It was pure bliss. I have never slept so well in my life.
We tried taking a similar photo.
With my girl.
We try.
Ben wasn't very keen being in the water all the way. He preferred Jamie's shoulders or just playing on the steps.
Killing time on the iPad.
That sums it up!
