Bali - Part II - Days 5, 6 & 7

Day 5

Our villa was in Ungasan on the Bukit Peninsula, located on the southernmost point of Bali. It is fairly low key and is popular for it's surfing and beaches. There are a LOT of Aussie surfers and other European backpackers here. I don't think I talked to one American while we were there. And there wasn't the mossie issue here that we had in Seminyak, thank you.

On this day we headed to Balangan Beach and we ran into some chickens (some skinny chickens), before walking down to the beach. Ben would have been happy chasing them around all morning.
It's a gorgeous beach and clean, this is not always the case. I think the surfers keep it clean.

Warongs line up along the beach selling beer, juice and food. We spent the morning playing and then had lunch and we learned when you order a Hamburger it is literally a Ham burger. If you want a hamburger it's labeled a beef burger.

We chilled out the rest of the day at the villa swimming and resting and the kids watched some Indo cartoon that they were way into and we stayed in and got takeway for dinner.
Day 6

We headed to the beach at Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua is where you will find all the western hotels/resorts and we originally were  going to stay here at the Hyatt, then found the villa in Seminyak and decided that was the way we wanted to go. The public section of the beach was filthy, rubbish everywhere and Ben was going around picking it all up, it was disgusting. However if you wandered over the resort side of the beach, totally clean. We ended up swimming closer to the resort side of the beach. It was a good beach to swim at and the water was amazing (warm). We partook in our beer and juice routine and then left to go out to lunch and then experienced one of the most dramatic meltdowns from this little guy (ever) in the car back to the villa. He just needed to sleep and his early wake up time was working against us, he did take a god nap back at the villa.

These two.
After resting up we headed out for dinner. We were told that we had to check out the Rock Bar at the Ayana Resort, so off we went. Only to be told that they were full and it was going be a long wait to get in. Also, they didn't take bookings so it was first come first serve. It wasn't really the type of place you want to take kids too, but we thought it would be fun just to have a peek of the view down there and watch the sunset. Well, everyone else thought the same thing too. So I snapped a few photos and we found another restaurant at the resort to eat, which was really good.
A hill-elevator that takes you down.

Some Japanese tourists wanting their picture with Ben. So of course I took of picture of them taking a picture of him. Don't you love how Jamie is trying to get him to smile.
The resort also had Balinese type dinner/dance show thing you could go to, but we just got a quick snap of Annmarie.
Day 7

We laid low during the day. Went out for breakfast and stayed by the pool at the villa.
I cannot wait, I mean cannot wait for the day Ben will sit quietly and color/draw when we go out. Will it ever even happen?

Until then - we have the iPhone and Peppa Pig. I seriously want to kiss and hug the people that created this lovely innocent five minute show.
Pool time

Annmarie even took a nap this day. Annmarie and Ben shared a room and while it mostly worked out ok, I think this is when Ben started protesting against the pack and play and wanted to sleep in the Bed with Annmarie. So I would let Ben fall asleep in the bed and then put him in the cot after he was out. Annmarie was also staying up later than usual, so I would ask her to rest during the day and she would sometimes just fall asleep.
Here are some pictures of the villa. We took a stroller that we did not use at all in Bali, with the exception of the airport. It was not stroller friendly at all. Jamie got to carry him on his back, it was good for them.

That evening at around sunset we went to the Pura Luhur Ulawatu Temple. It was close by and a must see at sunset.

Interesting yea.
Monkey's. You need to watch yourself. Really, they'll snatch sunnies off of you and don't even dare carry food. They can open wrappers. We saw them jumping on people. Ben loved them. I'm pretty sure he wanted to cuddle one. We kept him in the carrier to his dismay. Annmarie was a bit more cautions (as you should be) around them after she saw them jump on people. But they are all over the temple.
It was stunning.

Aww. A picture that mostly came out.
And another! Not very clear, but still happy to have it.

Up we went.

We then went out to a more Thai style warong and Ben devoured his banana leaf steamed fish.
I still have a couple of more days to go....

To Be Continued.
